Can I bring a prescription from another optometrist?
Absolutely. If you have an up-to-date prescription from another clinic, bring it in. We will use it to fit
and craft your new certified safety glasses.
My employer is paying for these. How does that work?
We make it totally hassle-free. We are highly experienced with corporate requirements, safety purchase orders, and employer billing. Just bring in your company’s paperwork or purchase order number, and we’ll handle the rest seamlessly.
Can I get Tinted lenses or Transitions (photochromic) in my safety glasses?
Yes. If you work outdoors or move between inside and outside, we can customise your safety glasses with permanent tinted sunglass lenses, polarised lenses (ideal for cutting heavy glare and water reflections), or Transitions lenses that automatically darken in sunlight and turn clear indoors.
Will wrap-around safety glasses distort my vision or give me a "fishbowl" effect?
Curved safety frames with certain lens types and prescriptions can cause dizziness or edge distortion if the optical curve isn’t compensated for, or the frames fits poorly. With over 10 years of dispensing expertise and fitting many safety glasses – we align the lenses properly and can help with frame selection to keep your peripheral vision sharp, natural, and distortion-free—even with higher prescriptions or astigmatism.
How do I stop my safety glasses from fogging up with masks or humidity?
We offer dedicated anti-fog coatings and frame designs with built-in ventilation or foam dust gaskets. If you regularly wear dust masks, respirators, or work in humid Queensland conditions, let us know and we’ll match you with lens coatings and frame styles designed to maintain airflow and resist steaming up.
Can I claim prescription safety glasses on my private health fund or tax?
Yes. Because they are custom prescription medical devices, we can claim them on the spot through HICAPS using your private health fund’s optical extras. Furthermore, if you require safety glasses for your job and your employer does not reimburse you, they are generally claimable as a work-related tax deduction (always speak with your tax professional first).
